How Sayo teaches
Sayo teaches you to speak English with real phrases (chunks) and practices them until they become reflex, instead of isolated words or grammar on paper.

Six steps for every topic
- 1
Learn in chunks
Each topic has a few real phrases native speakers actually use, not single words.
- 2
Listen
Hear the model phrase at natural speed to pick up rhythm and intonation.
- 3
Repeat
Say it right after, on rhythm, and get feedback on your pronunciation.
- 4
Recall
Review just before you would forget; a fast answer is what counts as remembered.
- 5
Use it in an AI conversation
Speak in an everyday situation, reusing the very chunks you just learned.
- 6
Move on when you hit the bar
You only go to the next topic when the measurable criteria below are met, not just because time has passed.
What we measure
A topic counts as mastered only when all four criteria are met:
Reflex
Recall and say the phrase in under 3 seconds.
Listening
Understand natural speech correctly.
Pronunciation by level
The minimum pronunciation score rises with your level: A2 60, B1 70, B2 78.
Keeping a conversation going
Speak fluently with the AI: reuse learned chunks, few hesitations, enough speaking pace.
These thresholds are starting values and will be tuned as we gather more learner data.
What we do not teach
- No academic grammar. Grammar and pronunciation come with your level, inside real phrases.
- No IELTS or TOEIC exam prep.
- We do not replace a teacher for writing or academic reading.

AI: Hi there! What can I get for you?

You: To go. Could I have it with oat milk?
AI: Of course. Anything else?

How content is reviewed
Phrases in the built-in topics are reviewed by our content team before they reach the app. Personal lessons the AI writes from your own stories, and phrases you save from conversations, are generated automatically and are not part of that review.
Limits to know
The AI can mishear you when you speak softly or in a noisy place. Feedback is a practice aid, not a certificate.
